Unfortunately this post will have no photos. For some reason the digi cam will not connect properly to my computer any longer, something about a DBus error, so when I figure that out or use another computer I will upload the photos.
The Good.
The rain has stopped. Ok that isnt really that good, rain is good, it makes my veggies grow. Its just nice after a week and a half to see the sun again. The real good, the blackberries are starting to ripen I found the first blackberry ready to eat yesterday (june 15). I took its picture and then ate it. The Monarch caterpillars are enjoying the milkweed I have allowed to grow. My broccoli and spinach are surviving finally. And my beets, well I think I will pull 1 or 2 out tomorrow they are the size of a very large walnut, i want to see what they taste like. Also I found out where the bats live. The rest of that story is in the next part...
The Bad.
Over the weekend, I think it was Saturday night a tree fell in my neighbors yard, which is like 10 ft from my window. Minor damage to his house, it was just a surprise. Well today the tree people came to finish chopping the wood up, my neighbor decided to have them cut down a old dead tree that was right next to their 2nd story deck. The bad thing was is that this tree was the roost to a large group of bats. The tree was hallow and gave them a great place to live. They didnt find out about the bats until they cut the tree down. Now the bats are homeless. This is when I wish I had made some bat houses because then we could have relocated them in the area.
Now, the Ugly.
A few days ago I went for my usual walk down next to the marsh. I found a wood duck house had fallen and either raccoons, possums or who knows what else had removed the nest. I found 3 wood duck eggs ( i presume they had already hatched) but I also found the spine and hind legs of some animal that must have died in the box. Not sure if it was a duck or a squirrel, I didnt look that closely. The really horrible thing is that not 2 yards away some person decided it would be the greatest idea ever to dump, at the very least, 5 pounds of corn kernels. Just straight on the ground. This is not how you attract wildlife people. I think i may bag it up here in a few days.
I wish i could have posted some pictures. Ill see what I ca do later.
